The album features the SFJQ on 11 tracks, ranging from hip standards (“Bernie’s Tune”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “Favela”, “Skylark” and “Groove Merchant”), to two originals (including Nolan’s epic “Swingtime in Sonoma”), to two tracks arranged for double quartet – featuring the outstanding Alexander String Quartet (an ambitious take on Brubeck’s “Blue rondo a la turc”, and a unique mix of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and the jazz standard “Avalon”).
